From the beauty of Brunelleschi’s dome to the jaw-dropping art of the Uffizi, wandering the streets of Florence will take you on a physical journey through Italy’s great civilisation.

Florence

Headline attraction
Brunelleschi’s dome is the crowning glory of Florence’s Duomo or cathedral - the green and black striped building on Piazza del Duomo. It’s possible to climb the 463 steps to the top of the dome, a masterful feat of engineering for the 15th century, and the view alone is worth the toil and €6 entry fee. It’s free to walk around inside the Duomo, but there are charges if you want to visit the other buildings in the complex.

Best of the rest
Possibly the best art gallery in the whole world, but most definitely Italy’s finest, the Uffizi Gallery is a must-do for anyone even remotely interested in art. Here you’ll find an astounding collection of Florentine Renaissance works put together by the Medici family. Pre-book tickets online or at the ticket office to avoid the rather scary looking queue. Art lovers should also drop by the Accademia to see Michelangelo’s David.

Chow down
While you’ll still get loads of tasty pasta and pizza in Florence, it’s all about the bread - which is unsalted due to a historical tax on salt. It’s a shock when you first tuck in, but delicious once you dip it in extra virgin olive oil. Don’t miss Il Frattellini (Via dei Cimatori 38r) in the city centre - a hole in the wall that’s been serving cheap and delicious panini and glasses of Chianti for the past 135 years.

Get the camera out
The Ponte Vecchio is much more than simply a bridge across Florence’s iconic Arno River: it’s a full-on Florentine tourist experience to shuffle across the shop-lined bridge stopping now and then to have your photo taken. The bridge dates from 1345 and was once home to butchers and fishmongers who would throw their waste into the river below. Don’t forget to look up and see Vasari’s concealed passageway, which is actually part of the Uffizi.

Try the local tipple
With its location in the heart of Tuscany, Florence is an ideal destination for wine tasting - especially if you’re a Chianti fan. Seek out an enoteca or particularly Florentine Vinaio (wine bar) and try some for yourself. Caffè Degli Artigiani (firenze-oltrarno.net/caffe artigiani/), across the Arno in the Oltrarno district, is a nice stop.

  2. Thanks for the recommendations on credit repair on this particular site. The thing I would tell people is usually to give up the actual mentality that they’ll buy at this point and pay out later. Being a society most of us tend to try this for many issues. This includes vacation trips, furniture, and items we’d like. However, it is advisable to separate your wants out of the needs. When you’re working to raise your credit ranking score you have to make some trade-offs. For example you are able to shop online to save money or you can go to second hand outlets instead of expensive department stores with regard to clothing.
